Daito alternative

The Daito alternative that lives where you log in.

Fox Auth does the same job as Daito, shared 2FA codes for your whole team, and adds a Mac menu bar app and a Chrome extension that fills the code for you. It also costs less on every plan size both offer and keeps a longer audit history.

14-day free trial. Bring your Daito tokens over in minutes.

Daito details are taken from daito.io (pricing, docs, and security pages), checked October 13, 2026. Prices are list prices in USD, excluding VAT. Plans change, so check daito.io for the latest. Daito is a trademark of its owner. Fox Auth isn't affiliated with Daito.

The difference

Codes where you already work.

A shared vault fixes the "who has the phone?" problem. Native apps fix the next one: stopping what you're doing to open yet another tab.

Mac menu bar

Press ⌃⌥⌘F anywhere, type a few letters, and press Return. The code is on your clipboard and clears itself after 60 seconds.

Chrome autofill

Fox Auth matches the site you're on and fills the 2FA box. It can also scan a setup QR code right off the page.

Every use, logged

Reveals, copies, and autofills land in the audit log with the app they came from, kept 7 days on Starter and up to a year on Scale.

Switching

Move from Daito in four steps.

Your 2FA secrets come with you, so codes keep working and nobody has to re-enroll 2FA on each site.

  1. Export from Daito

A Daito admin exports your tokens as QR codes (on Daito's Professional and Business plans, CSV works too). Treat the export like a password: anyone holding it can generate the codes.

  2. Start your Fox Auth trial

Create your team at app.foxauth.com and pick the plan that matches your team size.

  3. Add the tokens

Click Add token and paste each QR screenshot, or paste the otpauth:// link from the CSV. Choose Team or Only me for each one.

  4. Check, then close the old account

Compare a few codes in both apps. Once they match, invite your team to Fox Auth, then delete the export and remove access in Daito.

Shared SMS numbers can't be moved. Keep those with your current provider until we launch SMS.

Questions about switching

Is Fox Auth cheaper than Daito?

Yes, on every plan size both offer: $9.95 vs $19 a month for 3 users, $40 vs $49 for 10, $125 vs $149 for 50, and $330 vs $399 for 150. On both, paying yearly costs 10 months' worth.

Does Daito have a Mac app or browser extension?

Daito describes itself as web-only. Fox Auth has a web vault as well, plus a native Mac menu bar app and a Chrome extension that autofills codes.

Will my codes change when I move?

No. A 2FA code comes from the secret key behind it. Move the key and Fox Auth generates exactly the same codes, so you don't need to change anything on the sites themselves.

Can members see the secret keys?

No. Secrets stay encrypted on our servers (AES-256-GCM) and members only ever receive the current 6-digit code. Owners can export secrets, which always needs a second factor and is recorded in the audit log.

What if I need SSO, SMS, or Slack?

They're on our roadmap. If you need any of them today, Daito may be the better fit for now. Tell us what you need and we'll let you know when it ships.
